What’s New – Comparison with D4

  • More computer power – about 30 percent – which allows higher and faster noise reduction for a foolish setting of ISO 409,600 – 204,800 in D4 – and 11 frames/second. Full autofocus and metering is also a possibility with D4s.

  • From three to six preset white balances for a hard manual white balance in places with complex lighting.

  • Can shoot 59.94p – or 50p video –from the original 29.97p and has an audio with a Music/Voice frequency response setting.

  • Capable of 133 frames in raw mode from the 92 frames for D4.

  • New features include a Group Area AF and an uncompressed 12-bit modes and Face Priority AF that may be turned off.

  • The Intervelometer has been increased to 9,999 from 999 shots while EN-EL18a is now 3,020 shots from the previous 2,600 shots.

Improved Performance

11 fps will please photographers looking for action that is sped up.

Autofocus

The new “Group AF” mode activates a specific single AF point that helps the user focus when tracking a small, fast-moving subject— even if the subject moves out of range of the central AF point. “AF point position memory,” maintains the alignment of the AF point with respect to the frame during orientation changes —portrait to landscape and vice versa.

Workflow

For a sports photographer, the time between the images being caught, edited and delivered is crucial. The D4 answers with a 100Base-T Ethernet jack with a 1000Base-T Gigabit connection, which means images, can be transferred right from the camera during shooting.

The “RAW SIZE S” option can produce 12MB files for shooters wanting to get maximum use out of the memory card capacity or those who do not require 16MP files.

Video

Auto-exposure feature allows the user to smoothly segue between shots, avoiding exposure adjustments.

Audio

Adjustable microphone sensitivity even during recordings.

Buying a D4s becomes a no-brainer when you add up all the small improvements. Whether you are a professional photographer or an occasional one, get the new DSLR, today!
